"Are you sad? It's normal to be sad, you have to learn to let go of the people we love."
Grandpa Zubar is a very old bison: he is forty years old and is about to die. His granddaughters gather with him to celebrate his birthday and give him a great gift: to remember together his life, which as a very young bison led him to leave his homeland, the Białowieża Forest in Poland, to look for a new land where he could start a new bison family.
During this journey into memory, Zubar will meet again the Ginestre he met along his path, who helped him learn to live with fear and loneliness. A journey into the past that teaches the two granddaughters to stay united and support each other in difficulties, and helps them cope with the pain of losing loved ones.
