“In the center of Babel there is a fountain with an inscription: when a man is tired of Babel, he is tired of life. For ther is in Babel all that life can afford.”
Il coro di Babele (Babel’s choir) tells the story of five young Italians who leave their home countries to move to Babel, the city that in our imagination represents all the great European capitals. Five tales of five migrants, weaving into a single story.
It is a melancholic and nostalgic chant, but also funny and irreverent. It is the story of young people living in Babel. It is the story of those who leave one home to seek another. The story of those who leave one family to form a new one, bound by friendship and affection.
Each one of them ref|ects on their own life - the choices that were made, the roads not taken, priorities and compromises. In this twist of bodies and souls, stories cross other stories, creating a chaos in which languages, dialects, love stories, dramas, joys, wishes, lust for knowledge and homesickness coexist. Some of those migrants will remain, others will go back home and the rest will keep searching for a land to call home.
