Grandpa Zubar is a very old bison: he is forty years old and about to die. His granddaughters get together with him to celebrate his birthday and give him a great gift: to remember together his life that led him to leave his homeland, the Białowieża forest in Poland, at a very young age, to look for a new land where he could form a new bison family.
During this journey down memory lane, Zubar will meet again the Brooms he met along the way, and who helped him learn to live with fear and loneliness. A journey into the past that teaches the two granddaughters to stick together and support each other through difficulties, and that helps them cope with the pain of losing loved ones.
